Duchenne Hub hosts interactive educational workshop at St James’ Park

Last month, the Duchenne Hub hosted a successful interactive educational workshop at St James’ Park, bringing together healthcare professionals involved in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) clinical trials from across the UK. The event fostered a collaborative and engaging environment, with attendees actively contributing to discussions and sharing valuable insights and experiences.

Designed to support the continuing professional development (CPD) of nurses, clinical trial coordinators, and other healthcare professionals, the workshop focused on key aspects of DMD clinical trial delivery. Participants were updated on current and upcoming trials in DMD in the UK including gene therapies, and discussed challenges in managing patient transitions between paediatric and adult services in clinical trials. A highlight of the day was the interactive session delivered by the Maguire Communication and Leadership Academy. Their workshop equipped attendees with practical strategies to navigate difficult conversations, enhancing both patient experience and professional confidence.

The continued enthusiasm and engagement from the community highlight the importance of these workshops in advancing DMD clinical research and improving patient care. The meeting was supported by the Midlands and Wales Advanced Therapy Treatment Centre, Duchenne UK and by industry funders of the Duchenne Education in Care and Research Initiative.
