New publication in Scientific Reports

Several members of the team have participated in a new publication in Scientific Reports. Dr. Patricia Piñol-Jurado and José Verdú-Díaz have applied Mass Cytometry - Hyperion, a new technology that allow to study up to 40 markers together in a muscle biopsy section, to muscle biopsies of Becker muscular dystrophy patients at different stages of diseases progression.

This study is a collaborative project between clinical centres in Spain, the JWMDRC centre and the Citometry Facility of Newcastle University. The study has allowed to identify the sequence of changes that take place in the stroma and muscle fibres of patients with the disease, which provides a better understanding about the process of muscle degeneration in Becker muscular dystrophy.
