The European Conference on Rare Disease & Orphan Products
The European Conference on Rare Disease and Orphan Products (ECRD) is a major conference in the European rare disease landscape. ECRD is recognised globally as the largest, patient-led rare disease policy event in which collaborative dialogue, learning and conversation takes place. The conference helps to deliver the groundwork to shape goal-driven rare disease policies and facilitates important and innovative discussions on a national and international level..
The 2024 conference is taking place between 15th and 16th May and is fully hybrid. Places on-site in Brussels are now full, but anyone working in, interested in, or living with a rare disease is encouraged to participate online via the ECRD’s interactive platform. As always, the conference is targeted towards a wide audience including clinicians, researchers, patients and industry.
This year’s conference is coming at a crucial time, as the European elections approach and a new Parliament and European Commission will be ushered in. The conference sessions will therefore generate important conclusions to convey to the new decision-making structures, and are dedicated to topics like how to fund breakthrough therapies for RD, mental health for people living with a RD, equitable diagnosis, highly specialised care, innovative therapies, and how to ensure robust and meaningful national action for RD.
The JWMDRC and our Newcastle University Centre for Rare Disease are proud to once again be associate partners for this event!
